Hey loves, let me try and finish up what I started 2 days ago with my choices post that just ended up being a ‘selfless ‘ post So yes, I’ve never been someone who believed there are times in our lives we never have choices. That would mean we are still in the world because it’s only people who haven’t come to Christ that have their wills bound. In Christ, we have our souls freed, our Spirit made alive so we have the right to choose at every given point.
Today, I’m here to share with you what I came to realize this year, which is, we aren’t victims of circumstances, we aren’t people made by the things we suffered or the people we encountered but we are people formed by the choices we made based on those things. We are ‘victims’ of our own choices. I’ve noticed that this generation likes the blame game a lot, we don’t like to accept the role we played in anything. It’s why we aren’t going anywhere and we are just an entitled ungrateful bunch.
We walk through life thinking it owes us something and believing that we can push blame on everything but ourselves. We blame our parents, we blame our country, our continent, we blame our educational system, we blame situations we went through… everything outside of ourselves but I got a rude awakening this year with the knowledge and understanding of this truth. I had a conversation with my dad and listed all the things life and people had done to me, He listened attentively and when I was done, He showed me one by one how I wasn’t living based on what happened but living on the choices and responses I made based on those things and people. Yes this person did that, you failed here, got rejected here, was deprived of this, got the short end here. Yes, those things happened and are happening but who you become based on them is your choice. It’s so easy to give blame to them but ugly truth is You made choices! You made choices that led you here and made you this person.
My dad will say ‘yes you were offended but becoming bitter or living in unforgiveness is your choice’. Yes the educational system doesn’t prepare us for life as much as it prepares us for exams and a piece of paper they call certificates but you chose to only be schooled and not get educated. How is that people are thriving with the same ‘crappy’ system you were exposed to. Yes, this and that happened to you but what you become out of it, is your choice.
I’m not saying those things didn’t happen or aren’t relevant and 100% shouldn’t have any form or effect on us however most of us are standing still, pointing fingers at everyone and everything but ourselves. Yes, things happen but we made choices based on those and who we’ve become is based on those choices we made. Like we saw on day 4, things don’t change until you do. We need to become the generation that realizes that we are living by our choices and own up to them. You can remain where you are now, blaming everything or you can accept the truth and make changes… your choice!
Until tomorrow, stay blessed.
