I leave little encouraging notes for myself so I randomly find them later and usually they either make me smile or laugh my head off. I just found one of those notes and it read ‘some thing would grow out of what you are going through and it would be YOU’. I’m sharing this because this is for you reading this just now. Don’t grow weary, I know it’s tarried but Something is growing ever so beautifully, you wait and see.
Anyway I’m learning to recognize that the journey is a reward. A lot of us like to endure things and are holding on because of what lies ahead, because of the morning yet to come and that’s great! However, I just wanted to share with you what I’m SLOWLY learning is that the destination alone isn’t the prize but the journey to it as well. Linking it to the little encouragement note I wrote above, your growth process is a reward on its own. We are always so anxious, looking to the finish line that we lose sight of the amazing race that led us there.
The daily changes, the formation, the little discoveries, the adjustments… everything about the journey is a reward on its own. Yes, we are all in a hurry to see the end product because we know it would be glorious but I’m here today to tell you that the process on its own is a gift God gives us. What just came to mind right now is the just ended Miss Universe Pageant. Everyone was in it hoping to win. Being crowned was the goal for each of the queens who made it into the pageant so let me just say, the crown and every thing that comes with it was the reward or the prize. However for me, each of the queens individual journey to and during the competition are prizes on their own. They won right when they were selected to represent their countries. The crown would have been amazing but I want to believe their journey there has gifted them with a lot too.
If you aren’t new to my blog, you’d know that I had for a long time believed that things happen for me later than everyone else. That’s what it’s looked like but we both know that God is never late, I am mostly the one in a hurry. So for me, learning to appreciate the journey and recognize that the things I’m learning and gaining through the experience I go through is a reward especially because I like who it’s making me into is what keeps me going. It’s like someone bringing you tiny gifts before the big reveal. You never grow weary of waiting.
Today I’m sharing to urge you to look at the journey as a reward as I am learning myself. I was going to end this here but I just imagined the Israelites missing all those beautiful gifts they received on the journey out of Egypt into the promise land. They were so caught up in the destination that they lost sight of the amazing reward that journey was. Don’t let that be us, the end is a beautiful reward, we know because God ends a thing before He begins and He only ends it when He looks at it and says ‘it is good’ so the end we already know is a big reward but so is the journey and whom you become through it Sweethearts. Until tomorrow, stay blessed
