Lol I’m sure already you guys are thinking by looking at the title that I’m about to show you shortcuts or ways to get money through Christ or how Christ has promised to prosper us. I will probably talk about that later, Erm that’s the ways Christ would prosper us and where He said it in the bible. Today I’m starting from the beginning. Thing is if God is prospering us right this moment we wouldn’t know, why? Because we do not even know His definition of prosperity, so if we don’t know, how would we identify it when it comes huh? It’s like me saying I have a smallllll gift for you and you are already bummed about it and not looking forward to it. You don’t know my definition of small so how can you conclude? It could be a house or a car but in my definition, that’s ‘small’. It goes for the things of God especially His promises; we have our own definitions to them hence when God sends what He meant, We don’t even notice it, to even appreciate it.
So what is prosperity? I can tell you one thing. He wasn’t talking directly about money and material things when He said I’d prosper you so stop whining that God said He’d prosper you and He hasn’t. It has absolutely nothing to do with just making you rich. let me chip in here that for some of us, God wont send a certain amount of wealth our way. He would never! Why? Because He sees how you treat the little you have now. He said in Luke 16:10
“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much”.
I mean if you can’t be trusted, be content and put to good use the little that you have now? Why would He trust you with much? I’m not saying this, the Lord is. So back to what I was saying, When God says I will prosper you, there isn’t automatically a load of cash coming your way.
Prosperity is an advancement towards your destiny – Rev Benjie Djin. Prosperity pertains to destiny and not directly to riches and money. So when the pastor says shout ‘ I am prosperous’ (not the ewe lol my Ghanaian family will get this). He’s saying say ‘ I am blessed with the ability and the resource to advance into my destiny, to accomplish God’s will’. He’s not saying ‘ I will get money to buy the new phone or new car’ hayyy people will see that ‘I’ve arrived’. So weeks or months after the pronouncement of prosperity over your life and you still haven’t ‘arrived’, don’t go insulting the man of God or getting angry at God because you are the silly one who didn’t ask what the prosperity package contains. Christians have fallen for the deception that prosperity means obtaining enormous financial wealth. Now Christians are more focused on becoming millionaires instead of being content and seeking true spiritual riches. What is the Bible and God’s definition of prosperity? It has nothing to do with money, though for some, money may be one manifestation of Biblical prosperity but certainly not in every case. God doesn’t want us to live in poverty, God wants good things for us but would He give you millions so you put the millions above your love for Him? I think not!
God makes provision for us according to our calling; He supplies our needs and equips us with resources only to aid in our walk towards our destiny in His will. It is in God’s plan to give us more than enough but GOD WILL NOT MAKE US PROSPER TO FEED OUR LUSTFUL FLESH! He sure won’t. He also wont give us wealth to show off or flash to the world, if making you a millionaire wont aid in your calling, He wont supply it, you’d have to go get that elsewhere and the only way to do that is by losing your citizenship of God’s kingdom and aligning with the kingdom of Darkness. God prospers for His glorification and nothing else. You can’t fool Him; He knows your mind and your heart so He knows when you want the money for ‘show’/to feed your lust and pride. True prosperity is a sacred state of always having more than enough to give to those who are in need( as you are led) . Again, it is a spiritual process. Give, and you will be given more, pressed down, shaken together and running over (Luke 6:38). Listen! That doesn’t mean we give because we want the ‘more’, we give because it’s in our Christian nature to, the ‘more’ is just an outcome but not the reason.
True prosperity package comes with grace, favor, love, good health, opportunities, peace, and protection amongst the many. These are things that would sustain you and these are things God uses to qualify you as being prosperous, not just money! But think about it, most of the things will result in getting you money but that should not be your focus and even if it is, it should be aligned to your destiny in His will and your purpose. I read somewhere that how foolish are we thinking Jesus walked on earth a poor man. In my opinion, He was the richest, if we view it according to God’s definition. He had enough to do what He was called to do and times He didn’t have, God made provision one way or the other. That’s the life and wealth we should strive for and not the worldly kind. Another prosperous man mentioned in the bible was Joseph the dreamer. In genesis 39, the Lord calls Joseph prosperous. This is someone who was in prison and broke! Yet he was called prosperous. Why? Because regardless of his state at the time, he was making an advancement towards his calling and his destiny. If prosperity had to do with money , riches and all like Joseph would be called the poorest; a pauper even. I mean this was a slave!
Prosperity is a good thing, but are you trying to build your own prosperity and use it the way you believe to be right? According to the world’s definition? Or are you looking to God for daily provision and looking to give your wealth to whatever or whomever He directs you to give it to? God doesn’t just want to make sure you lack nothing that pertains to your life and purpose but also to give you so much to have more than enough to reach out to the next person and beyond.
We are blessed to be a blessing – Rev. Benjie Djin
I decided to write this post because I thought prosperity had to do with just enriching yourself money-wise so when I found out I’ve been in the dark all these years I thought it was best if I shared so that you don’t also stay in the dark. Remember that worldly prosperity may serve you well in this life but where would it lead you in the after life? and also remember that “It is the blessing of the LORD that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it” Proverbs 10:22. Amen and stay blessed
